Frequently Asked Questions

What is TMS Therapy?

Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) is an FDA-approved, non-invasive treatment that uses magnetic fields to stimulate the areas of the brain that are associated with mood regulation. TMS works by stimulating underactive nerve cells, effectively minimizing symptoms of depression, anxiety, and other mental health conditions. This approach can prove to be particularly effective for individuals who have not responded to other treatment methods like medication or talk therapy.

TMS requires no surgery or sedation, performed in a clinical setting by skilled professionals. Each session is quick and gentle, making it a good option for those seeking effective, drug-free therapy.

How Does IV Ketamine Therapy Work?

IV Ketamine Therapy involves administering low doses of ketamine through an intravenous (IV) infusion to treat mood disorders such as depression and anxiety. Ketamine works by targeting the brain’s glutamate system, a key component of neural communication. This process increases neuroplasticity, allowing the brain to heal and form new pathways that support emotional balance.

Ketamine’s rapid-action mechanism often leads to noticeable symptom relief within hours or days, making it a valuable option for individuals with treatment-resistant conditions. Sessions are conducted in a controlled, monitored environment to ensure safety and effectiveness.

Who Can Benefit From These Treatments?

TMS and IV Ketamine Therapy are particularly suitable for individuals diagnosed with mood disorders, including:

  • Treatment-resistant depression
  • Generalized anxiety disorder (GAD)
  • Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)
  • Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD)

Those who have not experienced sufficient relief from medications or psychotherapy may find these therapies beneficial. An initial consultation is required for both treatments to assess patient eligibility. Factors including medical history, current symptoms, and existing treatment plans will be assessed by our experienced clinical team.

What Should I Expect During a Session?

TMS Therapy

During a TMS session, you will be seated in a reclining chair. An electromagnetic coil will then be placed against your scalp to deliver magnetic pulses to the targeted area of your brain. You may feel a tapping sensation, but the procedure is generally pain-free. Sessions last approximately 20-30 minutes, and no recovery time is needed. Many patients continue their daily activities immediately afterward.

IV Ketamine Therapy

Before your IV Ketamine session, our team will review your treatment plan and ensure you are comfortable. During the infusion, which typically lasts 45-60 minutes, you may feel relaxed or experience mild dissociation. A healthcare professional will monitor you closely throughout the process. After the session, you’ll spend time in a recovery area before being discharged with a companion to accompany you home.

Are There Any Side Effects?

TMS Therapy

TMS is well-tolerated with few side effects. Common, mild symptoms include:

  • Scalp discomfort
  • Headache
  • Lightheadedness

These effects usually subside shortly after treatment.

IV Ketamine Therapy

Ketamine therapy may cause temporary side effects such as:

  • Nausea
  • Mild dizziness
  • A sense of dissociation

These effects are closely monitored by our medical team and typically resolve quickly after the session.
